Texas DPS Trooper Injured in Vehicle Crash in McKinney, Texas

A two-vehicle accident in McKinney, Texas sent a Texas DPS trooper to the hospital at Medical Center of Plano, Friday night, February 8, 2013.

The DPS trooper was attempting to pull over a motorist who committed a traffic violation on U.S. 380 near County Road 330, with his emergency lights on, when a driver of a pickup truck pulled out of a driveway in front of the trooper, causing the crash.  The driver of the pickup thought he had enough time to cross in front of the trooper.  The trooper could not avoid impact and crashed into the side of the pickup truck.

The driver of the pickup truck was able to walk away from the crash, but it took 30 minutes for emergency workers to get the trooper out of his vehicle.

The lesson here is to always slow down and yield to police vehicles, fire trucks, ambulances, and any other emergency vehicles.
