A tragic motorcycle accident occurred on Saratoga Blvd in front of the HEB Plus on March 29, 2015. Police investigation of the facts of the crash indicate that a driver of a minivan attempted to cross multiple lanes of traffic on Saratoga Blvd to make a u-turn and did not see the oncoming motorcycle which was traveling in the center lane of Saratgoa Blvd in front of Huntington Square.
The driver of the motorcycle, Wayne Fowler, lost control of the bike as he attempted to avoid colliding with the minivan and suffered serious head injuries as a result of the crash, despite the fact that he was wearing his helmet at the time. He was treated in intensive care at Christus Spohn hospital for the next two weeks but unfortunately died of his injuries late Thursday night.
The passenger of the motorcycle, Lorraine Villarreal, also suffered serious head injuries as a result of the motorcycle crash and died a day after the accident. She was 25 years old.

A 36 year old woman was killed in a rollover accident on Blevins St. and Florida Ave. in Corpus Christi around 1:30 am, March 6, 2015. Police say that a patrol officer witnessed the woman lose control of her SUV and saw the vehicle flip several times.
The woman was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene of the motor vehicle accident. A 39 year old male passenger in the SUV also suffered serious injuries in the rollover accident and was rushed to the hospital for broken ribs.
Persons involved in this type of accident should seek the advise of an experienced personal injury lawyer to analyze whether a product liability claim is viable. It is foreseeable to automobile manufacturers that the vehicles designed, manufactured, and sold will be involved in crashes. Therefore, the crashworthiness of the vehicle is an issue that should be analyzed in any rollover accident.
Furthermore, whether a vehicle's roof was designed safely to prevent roof crush and whether a vehicle's seatbelt system and seats are designed safely to prevent injury to occupants are additional issues that should be analyzed in rollover accident cases that result in serious injury or death to occupants of the vehicle.
Anyone who has suffered serious injury or who has lost a loved one due to wrongful death in a motor vehicle accident should consider seeking the legal advise of a Board Certified Personal Injury Trial Lawyer. Call Sheadyn R Rogers at (361) 356-6057 for a free consultation concerning your case.

As school starts for all Texas children, some important new driving laws also take effect September 1, 2013 covering such topics as using cellphones while driving around schools, passing a stopped school bus, and leaving the scene of an accident involving injury or death.
The use of cellphones, incuding talking on the phone and texting, is already prohibited in school zones unless the vehicle is stopped, the driver is using a hands free device, or the call is made during an emergency. The new law extends such prohibition of using cellphones while driving to all school property. Drivers who violate this law face a fine of up to $200.
It is already illegal to pass a school bus while its lights are flashing and its stop signs are out. In an effort to highlight this law to Texas drivers and to enforce it, Texas lawmakers are increasing the fine for passing a stopped school bus from an old range of $200 to $1,000 to a new range of $500 to $1,250.
Finally, Texas lawmakers are increasing the penalty for leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident involving injury or death. The new penalty, effective September 1, 2013, is two to twenty years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. The purpose of increasing the penalty is to encourage drivers who cause accidents involving injury or death to remain at the accident scene and call 911 to attempt to help the injured.
