Texas DPS Out to Stop Drunk Driving During Labor Day Weekend

The Texas Department of Public Safety has increased its patrols in Texas in a yearly effort to stop drinking and driving during the 2013 Labor Day weekend.  The increased patrols will continue until September 9, 2013.

The purposes of the increased patrols is to curb alcohol related motor vehicle crashes.  Such patrols, which target possibly impaired drivers, are funded through a grant by the Texas Department of Transportation.  The 2012 Labor Day holiday resulted in almost 1,900 DWI arrests in Texas.
