Corpus Christi Police Still Investigating Hit and Run Death Case

On February 11, 2012, Corpus Christi resident Kimberly Encinia was walking down McArdle near Rodd Field Road, on her way to a church sleep over near the Oso Apartments, when she was struck from behind and killed by a motor vehicle.  The driver failed to stop and render aid.

Over three years later, detectives with the Corpus Christi Police Department are continuing to investigate the hit and run case in order to find the person responsible for hitting Ms. Encinia.  Police believe that the vehicle that hit Ms. Encinia was a light colored 2002 through 2004 Nissan Xterra and that the driver may live near the area of the incident.

Rockport Artist Killed in Texas 18 Wheeler Accident

Rockport, Tx resident Jesus Moroles was killed Monday night in a trucking accident when his van rear-ended and crashed into an 18 wheeler on Interstate 35 approximately thirty miles north of Austin, Texas.  Moroles died at the scene of the crash; however, the driver of the big rig tractor trailer was not injured.

Mr. Moroles was 64 years old at the time of his death and was a highly respected artist who lived in Rockport, Texas.  In 2008, Moroles was awarded the National Medal of Arts from President George W Bush and was well known for his granite sculptures.

Pedestrian Injured by Possible Drunk Driver in Corpus Christi

A 59 year old man sustained a serious injury to his leg after being hit by a possible drunk driver around 8:15 am yesterday morning.  The pedestrian was walking across Ayers St. in Corpus Christi, Tx when the driver of a black Volvo hit a utility pole and then hit the man. 

The pedestrian was rushed to the emergency room of a local hospital immediately after the accident for medical treatment.  A witness to the incident thought the driver may have been asleep at the wheel as it appeared his head was titled back on the headrest.

According to police, the 21 year old driver Joseph Maldonado was arrested due to suspicion of driving his vehicle under the influence and causing injury to the pedestrian.  He will be charged with Intoxication Assault and could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.  Of course, Mr. Maldonado is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Reckless Driving Injures Three in Corpus Christi Auto Accident

A car crash involving three vehicles occurred at approximately 2:00 am on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at the intersection of Staples and McArdle in Corpus Christi, Tx. The automobile accident caused injuries to three people.

According to witnesses, two drivers were racing down Staples when one of the vehicles collided with a truck that was trying to make a safe turn onto McArdle.  The impact between the car and the truck caused a collision with another vehicle and three persons involved in the motor vehicle crash suffered personal injuries and were taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

Police stated that the driver who caused the automobile accident appeared intoxicated at the scene and believe that he was street racing with another vehicle at the time of the motor vehicle collision.

Corpus Christi Woman Dies in Motorcycle Accident Near Refugio Tx

A Corpus Christi woman, Amy Lynn Krueger, died in a motorcycle accident on  Saturday night, May 30, 2015.  The motorcycle crash occurred on Hwy 202 near Refugio, Texas.

Investigators from the Texas Department of Public Safety advised that two motorcycles were traveling on Hwy 202 on their way to Beeville, Tx when the driver of one of the motorcycles rear-ended the leading motorcycle causing Ms. Krueger, a passenger in the first motorcycle, to be ejected from the seat of the motorcycle.  

Ms Krueger, 28 years old, died due to injuries she sustained as a result of the motorcycle collision.  Another victim of the crash, a driver of one of the motorcycles, suffered serious personal injury and was taken to Christus Spohn Hospital Memorial in Corpus Christi, Tx for emergency medical care and treatment.

Driver Killed and Three Injured in 18 Wheeler Crash Near Ben Bolt Tx

An eighteen wheeler accident tragically resulted in the death of 56 year old Roland Davis, Sr. near Ben Bolt, Tx on Monday, May 18, 2015 at around 5:00 a.m.  

According to DPS troopers, the driver of the first eighteen wheeler swerved to avoid debris in the road, then hit the guardrail causing his truck to come to stop.  The driver of a second semi-tractor trailer then crashed into the first truck and caught fire.  

Roland Davis, Sr. was killed in the trucking accident and the driver of the other truck was taken to the hospital for injuries.  In addition, the drivers of two other vehicles hit debris in the roadway after the crash and were also taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Woman Killed in 18 Wheeler Crash Near Mathis Tx

At around 12:30 pm on May 19, 2015, a severe trucking accident occurred when an 18 wheeler clipped another 18 wheeler and then crashed into an RV hauling a Jeep on Northbound Interstate 37 just outside of Mathis, Tx.  The crash caused the RV to jackknife and flip into the median and caused the 18 wheeler to roll onto its side.  The crash also caused northbound IH-37 to close while DPS troopers responded to the scene of the trucking accident.

Faith Hubbard of Forth Worth, Tx, 49 years old, was tragically killed in the truck accident.  Her husband Terry Hubbard and the driver of the eighteen wheeler were taken to the hospital for personal injuries sustained in the crash.

The eighteen wheeler was driving from Raymondville, Tx to Lubbock, Tx and hauling 58 head of cattle, of which 14 of the cattle were also killed in the trucking accident.

18 Wheeler Crash Closes I-37 in Corpus Christi Tx

An 18 wheeler crash last night temporarily closed Navigation Blvd in both directions on 1-37 in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Corpus Christi police officers investigated the scene of the trucking accident and issued a citation to the driver of the eighteen wheeler big rig for rear ending a dump truck.  The collision caused the driver of the dump truck to crash into the inside concrete barrier of the highway and flip onto the other side.  Also, gallons of fuel spilled out onto the highway from the crash requiring extensive clean up efforts.
